The First Time on the Platform

"Ready?" asked Emily as she stood on the step of the train waiting. "Wow!" she said in awe. "Is that a Firebolt 3000?!"

"That's really cool!" exclaimed Emily excitedly, getting onto the train to let one of the first years pass.

"Thanks" Mai said, blushing, "We should probably get on, were kind of blocking the way a bit."

Jason slauntered onto the platform. He held his head high, the smell of muggle was almost too much to bear - but he knew he must stand it. All over the platform muggle friends and family were waving goodbye to their relatives. "Flithy muggles." Mr Brown - Jasons dad - spoke from behind. "Cant they just stay in their own stinking world?" Jason smiled. He was so much like his father. THey had plenty of money, and all of their friends were wizards and witches and pure blood. Jasons best friend, who had already graduated from Hogwarts, was a decendant of the greatest wizard of all time, Lord Voldermort. Jason would love to be as powerful as him. Smiling to himself, Jason turned and bade farewell to his father. Looking across the platform, he saw the scruffy looking woman who was his new headmistress. Deciding against going to say hello, Jason walked directly onto the train.

Mai looked out the train window and saw a boy, about her age, with a look of pure desgust on his face and the expression of someone about to throw up. Curious, she pushed the small window open a bit. She heared someone mutter "Filthy muggle's" Mai was shocked. She searched for the owner of the voice and realised it came from the man standing behind the boy. What shocked Mai even more was the fact than the boy seemed to nod. When the boy had said goodbye to the man, he walked in the direction of the train entrance. The way he walked! It was like nothing was good enough for him. Mai, who wasn't a violent person, had the erge to slap him. It scared her just how much she wanted to. She shook her head, as if to clear it, and turned away from the window.

Emily had missed everything that had happened between the two new arrivals. She turned round to see a boy about her age. "Hi." she greeted smiling. "You new aswell?" she asked trying to be nice hoping he would do the same.

Jasons head snapped around. A girl his age had just spoken to him. Ugh! He thought, she reeked of muggle. He looked over at her and glared, flicked his blondie-brown hair out of his eyes, and glared at her. Turning around, he continued onto the train.

Mai was disgusted the way the new boy had treated Emily. "Hey!" She shouted at him angirly. "What do you think your doing! Don't come here all high and mighty. Your no different from anyone else. I bet you just have pure blood and think that it makes a difference to the type of wizard you are. Well, it doesn't I am a pureblood but i bet that alot of people on this train are better wizards than i am. Better non-pureblood wizards. Don't you dare be mean to Emily or any one else on this train. You have no right. I may be shorter, weaker and most probably younger than you but that will not stop me standing up for myself or anyone else. Go away and think about the way you treat people 'cause it's just not human to be so cruel." Mai turned away from the hard eyes and stormed down the corridor before she lost her nerve and ran into an empty compartment.

Jason was intrigued. A girl had just shouted at him for doing what he normally did. He knew she must be deluded, she said she was a pure blood, yet that other NON-PUREBLOOD's were better than her! She was laughable. Yet, it still intrigued Jason. Pondering, he continued to the train.

While Mai was yelling at him, Emily brow furrowed. It was her time to shine now, she thought as Mai dissapeared onto the train. Her eyes narrowed and then her expression seemed friendly as if nothing had happened. "Well, I suppose since that is what your attatude is it looks like you'll have detention this saturday." She smiled. "And you'd better be there of else." Emily turned around and started towards the train. "I'll owl you the time and place." She picked up her things and got onto the Hogwarts express trying to find where Mai went.

Mai sat in the corner. She was calming down now and regreted loosing her temper. He did deserve it though. Being so mean to Emily! It wasn't fair. She had never done anything to him. She was being nice. Besides, what he had said before that, about blood status, was old fashioned and untruthful. She couldn't believe anyone still thought that.

Emily found Mai and walked over giggleing so hard she could not stop. As soon as she got to where Mai was she burst out laughing.

"Shush! Its not funny!" Mai frowned, on the verge of a tantrum.
