Waiting

Hale was normaly the late one. The one who was not fashionably late, but simply late. She hated it. But today she was the one waiting. Nobody had yet turned up for the lesson and so Hale was left standing outside of the classroom. Why was she here? She did not know. Hale guessed Astronomy just drew her in. The idea of studying planets and stars was facinating to her. Looking around, Hale saw something move in the shadows, maybe she wasnt the only one there after all.

"Hiya Hale!" Mai skipped forward happily and smiled wide. "I can't wait for the lesson to start though i dont think it will baring in mind we don't have a teacher. Oh well!" Mai giggled quietly. She got hyper on anything and sweets definately didn't help. It just so happened she had just had two flavor-changing lollies with sherbert in the middle and was sucking a third now.

"Hey Mai!" said Emily comming over and grinning, glad to see her friend again. She hoped she was on time. Ever since she had come to Hogwarts her watch had not been working properly resulting in her lateness to a couple of classes every now and then.

"Oh hi! Do you want a lollie?" Mai asked, holding out a wrapped up lollie.

"No thanks, I have my own!" she said excitedly, obviously a bit hyper. Emily took out a bright pink one from her bag and unwrapped it grinning gleefully.

"Wow. Thats such a big lolly. Where did you get it?" It was the size of a tennis ball and it would probable one of the ones with toung popping bubble gum in the middle.

Jason wandered up the stairs, he loved the Astronomy Tower. Full of wonders, he hoped to take part in astronomy lessons. So, he decided to go to the lesson. However, when he arrived there, he found two girls standing and talking animatedly and one girl standing looking at the girls. Not wanting to converse, he turned away from them all and walked to the opposite side of the tower.

"Ohhh." exclaimed Emily in awe at the new arrival. "We haven't met! I iz Emily!" she giggled taking another lick at her lolly.

"Emily, shut up! You sound drunk besides..." She trailed of. Her voice was thick and serious, all hyperness gone. She looked the boy up and down to confirm what she meant. It was the boy from the platform who she had shouted at. He did deserve it though! Being so rude to Emily when she had done nothing wrong. Quite the oppisite actually. She hoped to see, out the corner of her eye, Emily looking more serious as relization dawned on her and she worked out who it was. Mai turned her back on him and started a conversation on Astronomy. She made it clear that he wasn't part of it but part of her hoped he ignored that.

"Oh mah Guh!" Emily's expression changed - her eyes were wide. "Tis you feind!" She had realised by Mai's reaction that it was that guy that she had given detention.

Jason looked up. It was the filthy stinking muggle smelling witch who was talking to him. This suprised him. Wasnt she the very same girl who had given him detention? PLus, she sounded drunk. Oh how he would love dropping her in it with the teachers. He grinned mischeviously. The grin faltered when he saw the girl who had shouted at him, Mai he thought her name was - he had been sure to find out - look him up and down disgusted.

Jason decided he needed to talk to the girls. Sure they were muggle lovers, it seemed like everyone in this stupid school was, but he needed to talk to someone other than his owl. So, walking over to them, he spoke softly.

"Hey. I'm Jason. I think we got off on the wrong foot. You can never be too sure who to trust in this place." He looked at the two girls who had yet to aknowlage his presence, "Sorry if I insulted you." He smiled softly at the girl he had earned a detention with. "Truly I am." He wasnt really sorry, rather wishing he could block his nose, but he knew he must start to gain some friends or father would become worried. He hoped he did not show this though and continued to look sincere.

Emily giggled, looking slightly embarrased. "You wasn't so nice before.." she giggled again and looked at Mai. "See? He is nice!" she laughed but didn't stop laughing. "Ha ha! Mai you have to try these loling lollies." She laughed again.

"Hate to burst your bubble but i dont think he is that nice. And, you should lay off the lollies. I have a feeling there infused with alcahole." Mai glared at the boy.

"Aww! Spoil sport..." Emily made a face. "You're all crazy pepoples!!" She laughed again.

Jason was hurt. The one person he wanted to please was not acsepting him.  "I really am sorry. But, if you wont acsept it. Fine." Jason stormed away. He was now bent on destruction and shoved the other girls out of the way to go down the stairs, as he went he called out "You'll be sorry for that!".

"Ugh!" exclaimed Emily realising what she was eating. "What the heck... that's disgusting..." she looked around confussed. "I didn't do anything did I?"

Mai burst out laughing. Emilys bewildered expression was so funny! It almost cheered her up but, at the back of her mind, something was bothering her. she couldn't help but think about what the boy had said. And his face! It was like he had never been looked down on.

"Hiya. You ok?" Hale asked, looking at her two friends. "Sorry, I was in a daze. What did that boy want? He just shoved me out of the way! Did I do something wrong?" She said, worried now that she had somehow offended the boy.

"Dont worry. That boy must have somthing wrong with him if he thinks he can treat people like that." Mai said sourly. She was really starting to hate this boy.

"Oh my gosh! He was here?" Emily started going red. "I think I should have saved those Lollipops for later..."

Mai smiled reasuringly at Emily. "If i was you, i would just throw them all away. It might be for the greater good." She laughed quietly and leaned against the wall, dropping her heavy bag on the floor.

Emily laughed. "I don't even like them! I just tryed one and then a minute later I was here! Mabye they are cursed..." she wondered.

"Probably. I think i've seen somthing like that in weazleys wizarding wheezes." Mai replied. She slid down the wall to sit on the floor. She had been standing up for ages and, due to lack of sleep, was very tired.

"When's the teacher going to get here?" asked Emily, bored.

"We don't have one. We might have had cover but i bet the head said to just leave it. Oh well." Mai shrugged. She did like astronomy but her hyperness was wearing off now and she didn't feel to good. She would have been glad for a chance to visit the hospital wing and get something for her unsteady stomache.

"Oh right." she replied looking like she was in thought. "Mabye they will get one soon?"
